Race report later.....gotta get back to San Diego, but SOMA was funny....I initially finished the race annoyed with my swim, stoked about the bike, and "eh," about the run...come to find out, I was pretty much right on part with everyone else during the swim, not sure if it was long or what, but everyone seemed to have an "off" swim, so I guess I was in the same boat! The run, I thought stunk and then realized I ran an 8:18 pace, which isn't bad considering I had a hard time breathing (thinking it was the dryness....maybe heat?). ANYHOO =0.
So, I left the race thinking I finished 4th in my age group...so..I left. Come to wake up and good ole facebook this morning, informed me that I had finished 2nd in my age group! The only time i've ever been up on the podium for triathlon was for a 5th place finish (out of 5 =0) for the elite division at the LA Tri and then I went on to race in Minneapolis....so, I was like "NOOOOO" this morning when I woke up and found out I could have actually gotten to stand on the podium!! =0
It's ok though, i'm going to snag my award from the company on my drive back to San Diego today....so it'll be fun to get one! YAYYY!
Sorry this is a cheesy post, but hey, it's my blog and i'll write what I want!
Some people have left me msg's on facebook =0, thank you guys so much. Like most of you know, I complain about training sometimes =0, but I absolutely love racing and this race was super important to me because I feel like i've really improved with training and that's nice to know that i'm not just kind of "going through the motions,".......
Major major hugs to my mother-in-law Bonnie who got up at the crack of dawn, 4:00 a.m. to wake me up and then she came out and worried as a good sherpa does--worried she missed me, worried that I flatted, all those kinds of things and she was awesome out there cheering me on and she even has me convinced that she had fun!! It was an awesome weekend!
Race report soon!
Thanks for reading!!
