Wisdom...

I read blogs from time to time =0 and most people just blab like me, but every once in a while I find someone who writes amazingly and just has a way with words.

Tonight, I was reading Elizabeth Fedofsky's blog and she has an awesome sense of humor and really a terrific way with words. I don't know her personally, but I think she just turned professional in the last few years or so, maybe even this year, but anyway, my point is....she wrote a comment in her blog about why she races.

I was thinking the other day about why I race and people always ask me why I chose to do an Ironman, or what's the big deal or they think i'm crazy or "is it a phase," or my favorite "do you think you'll win the whole thing." Anyway. These words are not my own, but they totally portray my feelings about why I race.

If there is a fast route to success, I haven’t yet found it. All that I have found is that it takes a lot of hard work, bucking up, getting over yourself, putting aside your pride, staying focused, believing in the big picture, believing in yourself, following your heart rate zones, saying no to shit food, dealing with physical pain, an unwavering drive, hunger for your goals, day in day out a lot of waiting waiting waiting before you get to your success. And there is still no guarantee you will get there. But the pursuit is so exciting to me – so rich with opportunity that I cannot help but chase after it. That is why I train and race.

Beautifully put.

Here is the author's website, so I can give credit! http://elizabethfedofsky.blogspot.com/
